101: Foundation!

Hello Peeps!

I hope you are doing good. Today I am writing about all you need to know about foundation..
Let me put it this way.. as a building needs a good foundation, makeup routine needs the same.
Otherwise everything will come crumbling down(no pun intended) :P

So first of all before choosing a foundation you need to be sure of your skin type, whether it is oily, dry, combination or sensitive. I am specifying this because foundations are usually made for a specific skintype and have different types of finishes.

After the above step has been sorted, next is the type of finish a foundation has. Different types are dewy, matte and semi dewy/semi matte. Also foundations have different coverage's like heavy, medium and light.

Now after I have provided you so much information..you all must be totally confused! So let me help you burst this bubble of confusion :D

Before choosing a foundation,be sure of the purpose you are going to use it for and the amount of time you are going to wear it.

If there is a special occasion then you will be taking photographs so heavy coverage maybe required unless you are blessed with flawless skin! I envy you! But a heavy foundation usually requires proper blending and  setting i.e with a powder so it doesn't move or fade away. Don't wear "HD" foundations or the ones that contain sunscreen as they may not photograph well.

If you are planning to wear foundation everyday/work then light to medium coverage is advisable as it will look natural and allow your skin to breathe, also if you need more coverage you can build it up or use a concealer instead on specific areas of concern.

Also if you don't want to use a foundation but want an even skintone then you can use a BB/CC cream or a tinted moisturizer.

Foundations come in different variants like cream, liquid and powder.

If you have oily skin then I advice going for a matte,semi/dewy or powder foundation as it will control oil and last longer.

For dry skin dewy or semi/dewy foundation is advised as it gives a healthy glow and does not cling to dry patches which powder foundation may tend to do for this skintype.

For sensitive skin make sure to check the ingredients before purchasing and try the foundation to check if you don't have any reaction.

Next tip is that please match the color properly to that of your body, while buying the foundation choose a few colors and apply them onto your jaw line, the one which blends in perfectly is the right color. And don't be shy to ask for help from the sales assistant ,you don't want to fall for the wrong one(color i mean :P)

Also, while applying foundation you can use a brush, sponge or your fingers which is totally your choice but make sure you blend properly by spending a few more minutes than usual and remember to blend it down to your neck so there are no harsh lines.

Last of all the product I advice investing in is foundation because it is the most essential step and if the base is tacky then there is no point in continuing.

Some of my favorites are : Mac Studio Fix Foundation,Dior Hydrafresh BB Cream, Shiseido Cream Foundation, Loreal True Match and Loreal Eau De Teint Foundation.

I hope all these tips will help you choose wisely.

Stay Gorgeous xoxo
